Hey guys, I'm going to order up a Wilson case trimmer from Sinclair and as I was looking at the case holders that you need, it offers two choices for .308 win. One is the "Wilson Trimmer Holder, 308 Win Family" the other is "Wilson Trimmer Holder, 308 Win Family New Cases". What would the difference be between these two holders? Does the "new" one mean I can't put once fired Federal brass that I used last year in it? They aren't really clear on the site why they are labeled differently.

This is the page I'm looking at if anyone cares or has been there before themselves.

Southpaw - Go to lewilson.com then go Products, Case trimmer, Case trimmer instruction sheet. Near the bottom of the page it covers what you're wondering about. It apppears that the standard holder may not grip a new case tight enough. If you're strictly using fired brass it should not be a problem. I have 2 different calibres based on the 308 case but they're both Ackleys so I haven't had to trim yet, so I haven't run into this problem.

I can run my sized 6BR brass into the "Fired" case holder with no issues.

If you are using fired brass, which you most likely will, don't get the "New Case" version.

This is what I've found on the site that bedrock suggested I look at in case anyone else is interested:

11. My case does not fit in the case holder. What do I do?

If your case does not fit your holder, first make sure you have the right holder. If you are using fired cases make sure it does not say NEW CASE on the holder. If it still does not fit you may need to send it so we may open it up for you. You probably have a lager them average chamber.

Please send your holder, 3 of your cases, a short note to describe the issue you are having and a check for $7.50. This will cover the shipping charges back to you, if you live in the USA.

12.What is the difference between Fired and New (F/N) on your case holder list?

Fired = Fired cases

New = New or full length resized cases

Note: Fired cases holder will only be marked with caliber it will not say FIRED CASE

New case holders are marked NEW CASE
