What would be the best choice of shot/slug/riffled slug and brand for greatest distance and most stopping power for use in bear defense.
I have a Winchester Defender 1300 with an 18" barrel.

Thanks for the info

I dont see why you need great distance if its for bear defence.

Usually the bear would need to be a threat if its ground to kill it.

Go with 3" riffled slugs, or 000 buck? In etheir remington, federal, whinchester, hornady.

In my defender I shoot Winchester 2 3/4" rifled slugs. Plenty accurate to 100 meters (under 6" group). If you have 4 slugs followed by 4 00 buck you will stop pretty much anything. I just put the saddle mount and dot scope on a few weeks ago.
