Still eyeballing an older shooter 1886 win rebored from 40-82 to 45-70.It shoots accurately enough but has feeding and ejection issues.Perhaps whomever converted it didn't alter anything else?Not sure if I should waste $$$ or time on this one? Not sure what all should be changed to get it functioning reliably? Anyone familiar with the 1886 and it's quirks? Not a collector piece what so ever.............Harold

Sounds like the feeding mechanism wasn't modified. Maybe one of the other old timers on here can help you with that. - dan
I just re barreled an 86 and it had feeding issues ,I noticed the carrier spring was bent backwards therefore the carrier wasn’t lifting up properly ,heated up the spring bent it back,rehardened and tempered now its works flawlessly ,this is a common problem with the 86
