I'm looking at a 1904 Win 92 25-20 and was wondering if it was originally BP or safe for smokeless rounds? Don't see any markings for nickle steel barrel.Bore cruddy may need relined if it don't clean up.value? Harold

Any Winchester Model 1892 in good working order is safe for smokeless or black powder. Of course, if you use smokeless, you should use published loads. Don't do something crazy like use a capacity load of some ultra fast powder. The Model 1892 is a very strong action, and the 25-20 chambers and bores have a lot of meat around them.

The bore on this one is fairly good from the chamber 1/2 way up the bore then it is either grungy or pitted?Hard to tell not sure if it's shot out?It has an octagon 24" barrel. It's horrid to clean that's for sure............Harold
