Hey guys and girls

I have a 92 that doesn't get used and was wondering how much it would be worth.

It's a 1911 manufacture date very medium in condition. Rear site is not original and the tube mag band has been replaced at some time. It's a 38-40, the 24” barrel has rifling the full length but shows wear and 96 years of age.

Thanks OS

I've seen a few selling in the 600-800 range. The 38/40 has a special following it's really not that desireable for the regular run of the mill crowd. I have also observed that the carbines seem to be worth a bit more than the rifles. I am sure that someone else on the board will have more experience in pricing these than me.

I believe the "strange" (cue sarcasm) might lower the value also the fact that it was made fairly recently will probably lower the value too. But It's in good condition so who knows. It would make an interesting short range 'chuck gun.

Win 92

To collectors it's all about condition and originality of it. I can't tell much from the photos - they basically just show it's sillouette. Round or octagon barrel, percentage of blueing on receiver and barrel, etc. It could be worth anywhere from $400 to say $1200 for a really fine one. I suppose if somebody just wanted one to do a little shooting with they wouldn't want to pay the high-end dollar for it though!

From what I can see on my PI$$ poor monitor, that '92 is a rifle, not a carbine.
That would give it better stock wood. Condition, for the vintage looks good (again on my monitor)
I think you best get the gun apraised in person at a few places, I think it may well be worth some nice dough.
The 38-40 was at one time a fairly popular short range small game and deer cartridge.
There are plenty of folks looking for rifles so chambered.

Thanks for your thoughts.
A few answers
Blueing there isn't much at all.
It's a round barrel.
I would like more info on how to describe the barrel condition. There are a few pits but it mostly looks shiny and it looks like it has lands not grooves and they are visible from end to end. But not strong.
I have taken a few more pictures without the white background I hope they are a bit clearer.

Thanks again
OS
