Win 94 saddle ring plug/replacement

Is there available a flathead screw/bolt that can replace the saddle ring on a model 94 ? The saddle ring unscrews from the receiver, and I would prefer to use a flush bolt instead. BTW, what is the point of the saddle ring ? thanks

It clips on to a caribiner to stop it falling to the ground.

If the saddle ring bothers you ...I have a remedy...I will willingly trade you for a rifle of equal value for yours ...then the ring will be gone and you will not have to deal with a plug for the hole....can we deal? The ring was to hold the gun while the soldier walked his horse or done something that needed both hands, the rifle was suspended on a shoulder belt that kept the gun at ready...some beleive that it was used to hang the gun from the saddle pommel and some think it was used to ite the gun on its scabbord so it would not fall out when the horse was galloping....which ever...it is a useful thing to some and a hindrance to the "silent hunter".....

How old is the rifle.....I ask, because I have the plug I took out of my trails end model....when I put a saddle ring on it. Might work for you.
