I thought the post referred to Winchester production pre WW2. My age is showing when someone says "back in the day", I think early 20th century. I am aware of the 94 redesign to cycle 44 rounds. IMO the 94 produced post 64 til mide 1970's were pretty lousy. Quality improved somewhat but no comparison to earlier rifles. A lot of the younger crowd today are paying $800 to $1000 for post 64 94's(60's and 70's ) which is mind boggling to me. Used to be $600 for a pre 64 94 and $250 for a post 64 94, the gap has narrowed a lot. Many just don't seem to know or care about the difference between them.
