Win 9422m scope mounting - advice?

Good Day,
Have a 9422m with the pistol grip and longer barrel here I'm trying to get a scope on and having a couple issues. Scope is Leupold 2-7x28 rimfire and I bought some Leupold 3/8 rimfire ringmounts med (54289) and thought it would be a good combo.
- Rings are flat across the bottom and receiver is round so no go, get em on but canted and don't trust them. I need some with a dished base so to speak.
- bell not clearing rear sight with mediums and don't want to take it off.
- may need a rail but the weaver TO-10 seems to be mentioned a bit but not interested in marking up receiver, any options?
I've awnsered some of my questions I suppose, I need to go a bit higher for sure.

After Googling a bunch of stuff last night and seeing some damn ugly set-ups I'm curious to what anyone else on here has done :confused:
 
I have a set of weaver see through rings on my 9422m classic.
They work well and make the sights usable as well.
 
Problem with the 9422 is that the receiver is so short. There are extension bases which fit the tip-off grooves, but have a standard Weaver rail on top.

I can't help you but I agree that scopes on a lever are damn ugly...even though I can understand why one may have to do it.
 
Yep, some weird set ups for sure. May have to do the rail or abandon mission. Or maybe some cheaper high rings, seen some talleys that don't look to bad and seem to be concave on the bottom but maybe hard to find up here.
 
My plan is to install some skinner peep sights on mine.

Rimfirecentral forums will provide further ideas on scoping the rifle.
 
BKL makes some nice cantilever mounts for rimfires and airguns,

You could also get a rimfire to weaver conversion base and then use weavers....

I'm looking for ideas for my 9422M too. Haven't purchased a scope yet though, so I'm open to options for scope/rings/mount combination.
