I don't think its worth reloading for hunting whitetails or black bears, the factory ammunition has improved greatly over the years. You don't need a Barnes or Nosler Partition to shoot either animals in my opinion.

Test today was with a Rem Model 7 with 18.5" barrel 80s vintage, scope 1.75 x to 6x leupold, gun has composite stock bedded.
Grey targets where at 50 yards red target was at 100y
Used Rl 15 & Varget with 150gr Speer hot cors, also tryed 165gr Accubonds with 44.5gr varget gun did not like this load shot poor speed was just over 2400fps

Winchester Power-Max Bonded $23 for a box 20

There is 2 bullets in top hole. speed was good for 18.5" barrel I could go with a little more Varget to get speed close or higher than factory, but accuracy could be lost ?

Factory ammo is definitely more consistent than it used to be, which is the key to accuracy. Would cost a fortune though, if you were shooting a lot, and with several rifles...

Guys don't get me wrong on this post reloading is the best way to go, but I just wanted to show how well some new ammunition can give some very good results, and not just the stuff at $40+ a box.
Thanks Firemachine 69 I just bought a pound of IMR 4895 and will try some at top end maybe get speed up. will have to pay attention on bench gun might fly right off bags it only weighs 5lbs 12oz all in.+
I have a old 30s Remington that still shoots 1/2min with 60.5gr of Rl 19 and 165gr,full case of powder but was some what disapointed when chrono said 2625 fps.
I think these new winchester power-max's in 3006 will blow right by the RL 19 load.
I sold a Rem 700 custom 26" Hart Barrel that was driving 165gr Noslers at 3015fps won,t mention that load quite hot.
