I have two M70s from the FN plant. The 30-06 is an extreme weather and the 270 is a featherweight with wood stock. Anyone know if I can switch the stocks on these two rifles?

I'm going sheep hunting and would like to take the 270 but don't want it to get beat up and would like to put a synthetic stock on it.

The barrel channels may be a bit different between the two. I believe the featherweight is a lighter contour, which means the 'o6 may not go into the FWT wood stock. You should be fine to put the FWT in the 'o6 though.

Just pull the screws and give'er a try!

thanks guys, I'll take them apart and see how the bedding looks. If it looks ok I'll see how it shoots. I wasn't planning on putting the wood stock on the EW (30-06). If it doesn't work out I'll just take the 06, not much difference anyway but the 270 is 1/2 lb lighter.

The EW has a sporter barrel contour and the FWT has a featherweight contour. You can put the EW stock on the featherweight but there will be gaps.
