As many of you PR shooters are into upgrading and tweaking your rigs, there are many of you who desire a bolt handle upgrade that allows rapid manipulation of the bolt (snap & rapid fire matches) as well as winter and foul weather operation.

Here is my Winnie Model 70 bolt upgrade done by Boss Hogg (the owner and gunsmith) of Accurate Action, a board sponsor here on CGNutz. I try to support and work with all our vendors here on the CGNutz community.

Boss Hogg reports that the steel in the bolt handle is one tough mother, and I'm glad as heck to hear that.

The bolt knob is his own from the business. Check out the fine work and blending in the picture above.

Here's another view of the bolt knob and handle.

The upgrade cost around $146.00 and that included the bolt handle.

Here's a picture of the M700 bolt handle he did for me this fall:

Pure Awesomeness! :D

I'm super happy and this summer with my teaching Winnie M70, I'm gonna showcase this rifle.

Hope this can steer you to some upgrades that will make you proud and please with the PR rig addiction! ::sniper:

Cheers and keep looking after dem noobs out there!

You'll love the feel of those bolts with the larger handle. Anyone using a modern scope with a 40mm bell or more needs more meat to cycle IMO. I dealt with boss hogg, he's excellent and does great work.

I just got two Rem 700 bolts done by him this past month and I am very pleased with his excellent workmanship. It makes a Remington action so much better to cycle.

Well, there was some valid arguments (I will agree with that issue) about the 'need' or 'want' to get that Tac Bolt handle upgrade. If yer sitting at a bench and under no pressure or a hunting stand, they yeah, I can see why you would not need this upgrade. The factory knob I know will work just fine. I killed hundreds of groundhogs in the past 25 years with a box stock 700 varmint gun and never needed such a tac bolt handle. :D

Enter the ORA / DCRA Precision Rifle matches where at 200 yards, the match is called "Rapid Follow Up" and rightly so. All the Remmy 700 operators discovered WHY this upgrade is necessary. If you still are non-believer then by all means come out to my PR clinics (2 of them in Ontario this season) and one of my 8 (or is it 9?) matches. We will stress you out at the 300 yard/m Agony snap, especially for you internal box magazine feeders! Surprise, Beeeeyotches!

Those of you who were at my Petawawa Clinic last Sep 2013 were in for a discovery about the need for a tactical bolt knob! :ar15:

Cheers and keep helping all dem noobs out there!

Looks good Barney, thanks for letting us know of this service. I have a Rem 700 bolt in need of this upgrade, I better get it sent in before shooting season really gets started! Oh wait, this is March and we have four more months of winter!

Barney, just wondering if your Winchester is clip fed or internal box magazine?
I've been looking for a chassis that will take the AI mags but no luck so far.

I bought a CDI bottom metal or DBM kit from Mystic Player one of our board sponsors. I am an advocate for magazine feed rifles since the technology is present and available in BC with Gerry or Mystic Player. :)

Mystic is super helpful with the PR addiction. He has many solutions for your potential situations.

Now if only my McMillan HTG stock in GAP camo would turn up from the MacBros stock masters' factory.....

Cheers, Barney
