Hi there,

Short story, I'm selling an old boat and I put open to hunting/outdoors trades, etc.

Guy calls me this morning, super interested in my boat and has a Win Model 70 XTR Sporter in 7mm RM for sale and wants to trade it towards my boat for $500. It's got an old steel K4 Weaver on it, comes with a case and a box and a half of shells.

He says his dad bought it and shot it a few times and gave it to him, he shot it a box or so, got one deer but went back to his BLR .308 for hunting and it's been in the safe ever since. Being a XTR Sporter, it should have been made after 86. He's had it for ~15 years, so it makes sense.

It's described as not perfect, but very nice with a really low round count.

What are your oppinions on the rifle and it's value? It seems a fair price from what I see online but I do not know winchester rifles very well.

I do want to get rid of the boat and a few hundred and this rifle might be a good deal for me.

Thanks Everyone.

Ryan

I have the same rifle in 338. It's a nice looking rifle, but they are push-feed models, so aren't as valuable as the model 70s with control-round feed. $500 might be a little too much, but I'd say $400 - $500 isn't too bad if it's in good shape.

The push feed takes away from the value, but it is still a great gun. I love my model 70 made in the 80's. smooth solid action, reliable feeding. I would try to get him down to $450-$475. But if the 7mm RM is a chambering that you want, $500 isn't bad if it is in nice condition.
I would make sure that you want the 7mm RM, because if you want to sell it, especially on this site you will have a bit of a harder time with the CRF coming back out. I know myself have passed on some used deals to spend the extra $300 on a new CRF

Ahh... Well... I'd try not to sell it, because then I would round out my hunting rifle collection a little... 6.5x55, 7mm RM and 45/70... Kinda covers most of the grounds... now for a .223...

I'll go for it if it's in beautiful shape. I could really use the money for the engine rebuild too.

Thanks,

Ryan
