Looking to buy my first sporting shotgun. I've narrowed it down to the Win SX3. I primarily want to shoot skeet and down the road get into duck hunting. I figure a 3" will be good enough for both those jobs or should I spring the extra $100 and get the 3.5"?

Also what barrel length should I be looking at?

I'm gonna hear it from the regulars on here but personally I only shoot 3" shells. If I can't hit it with a 3" shell, either I shouldn't have been shooting at it or I better hit the range.

The SX3 is a fine piece, which model are you looking at? If skeet is going to be your priority, the 26" might be more to your liking. But the 28" will work fine too. (If you're thinking of shooting all the clay games, the 28" might be more to your liking). This is more of what suits you best for swing comfort.
You're right, the 3" will handle both jobs just fine and dandy. It gets my vote too.

I would stick with the 3 inch and would check out a 30 inch. Short barrels for skeet is a thing of the past.
