I purchased one and later discovered that my stock is much higher than my friends SX2 (wooden stock as well). And as I have big cheek bones I cannot aim as I would like to - I need more drop at comb. The composite stock model is not a problem because it has a set of shims that allows to adjust drop at comb, but field walnut does not have this feature. I tried to dissemble stock and I can see that there is a possibility to bring comb lower.

Question to owners of SX3 with composite stock - can you guys tell me what those shims are made of? Are they metal, plastic?

I have read that they would not fit to the field walnut model anyways, but I'd like to verify that theory. Any of SX3 composite stock owner that live in Mississauga, ON? If so and willing to help I'd try to borrow some of those shims (before I order from Winchester) to see if they fit. Please PM me if you can help.

They are made of plastic and there are a wide variety, comb up comb down, cast left and cast right. Best bet for you is to take it to a gun smith that specializes in stocks, get him to take your measurements and he can shave it to fit.

Don't start shaving the stock as far as the shims there are only 3 and depending which way they are installed is how they affect the stock they will not work on your model because the comb is straight it has no drop, like the field stock not sure why they built them that way the stock is more like a standard trap stock after all that not sure what your options are maybe trade for a different model

i just picked up an sx3 walnut field and it came with the drop and cast adjustment spacers. Sounds like you just didn't recieve them.
