Winchesters new Ranger is an interesting offering for 2024 . If actual build matches the advertising it may be a great little lever rimfire .

Is it called the Winchester Ranger ?
If so, I’d imagine Christensen Arms legal team reaching out to them lol

Highly doubt that. Ranger isn't exactly a unique or new name - certain models of 94s were called Ranger, I've got a Cooey single shot called a Ranger...

OP where did you see info on this? Google is mostly getting me 9mm ammo...

Hmm, fair enough.
I was under the impression the name was patented at this point.
#### the Cooey is probably old enough the patent would expire if so.

Either way, carry on then.

If only companies could have an ounce of creativity naming things lol

Thats okay. When I try googling Winchester Ranger I'm getting hits for semi auto shotguns too, so it seems Winchester has used Ranger on more than just a trim of the 94! lol

To be fair, its not exactly new for Winchester to reuse names - the Wildcat was a bolt action rifle many years ago, the current Wildcat is a semi, and its bolt-action counterpart is the Xpert or some crap.

Also I see now that Winchester has the Ranger on their website, its just not coming up when I google "winchester ranger", they need to work on their SEO lol

Made in Japan or elsewhere, I wonder. No "made in ..." markings in close-up photos on their website.

Turkey would be my bet. That's where their more affordable pump action shotguns and the Wildcat are made. At $419 msrp I can't see them being made in Portugal, Belgium, or Japan.

Yes, most likely. The "matte" finish is a strong clue.

The name Ranger has been used extensively by Winchester . The later angle eject model 94's were marketed as Rangers ; and I have a Winchester 1300 pump shotgun with the two barrel option which was also marketed as a Ranger.....I guess Winchester liked that name...lol .

Saw a photo online and thought "Henry"...then read "machined aluminum receiver". Wonder if that means "cast then machined", or if it's actually starts life as a chunk of aluminum? At that price, not assuming the latter. Almost a shame to see one of THE original names in lever guns going cheap-cheap, but since "affordable" is flying off the shelves with other 22LR levers/pumps....it doesn't make business sense not to join the crowd and get your pc. of the pie. I'll be watching for reviews of this one.

Apparently it's made in the same place as the Wildcat and the other cheap 22 they sell (Wildcat with a wood stock)

My guess is this "Ranger" will will be along the same lines as the Henry, etc. painted aluminum and crappy wood, but a good price and fun little plinker to play with. The takedown feature is nice.

Now, when they bring back the 9422, I'll be excited.

The Winchester Repeating Arms Company address is in Morgan, Utah. I wonder if they manufacture any firearms in Utah, or as has been suggested, are contracting out to lower cost builders?

You can bet that if it is being made in the US that they would have plastered that on the website " proudly made in the USA " I have a browning BL22 that is 40+ years old and has over 20,000 rounds through it, still smooth as silk and shoots lights out, my bud has a winchester 9422 that is probably that old also and has more rounds through it that mine, my guess is you will never get that many rounds out of these newer aluminum block levers

Winchester has used the Ranger name for their budget firearms many times over the years. I've owned probably a half dozen Model 70 Rangers. - dan

According to that video presenter, the receiver is machined from billet aluminum.

Looks like a decent gun for the $419 MSRP price.
