Well i got talked into fixing a Win.100 ...again!!! It was jammed( of course ) the gas cylinder very very dirty and it had a fired shell in the chamber . I got it apart ,removed the case, cleaned the cylinder and refinished the stock with Tung oil which turned out real nice . Now I have to put it back together and now I can't get the barrelled action back into the stock. I pull the action handle back , hook the rear of the action into the rear lug and try to drop it into the stock....it wont fit:mad:  Am I missing something or doing something wrong here??? I really hate this rifle. Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Bob

I have not worked on one of these-Thank god,
when you refinished the stock, did you get a
build up of finish inside the inletting?
if it was a tight fit, it would not take much
to stop it from dropping in.

Hold the action completely open with one hand while holding the barrel in the other, with your third hand hold the stock and using your fourth hand hold the magazine latch to the rear and then with all four hands coordinated it should assemble. :D

Thanks for the suggestions, will try again this evening , I know it should go back together....hell it came out easy!!! Maybe I'm getting old and less patient.

Well got it back together, used the 4 hand approche suggested by Gunteck actually had a friend over that had the problem fixing one also. What we did was to squeese the trigger guard up into the stock a bit so I could pull the handle farther back and everything fell in place:D Will take it to range to see if fires OK . got to stay away from Win 100's but then again now I know what to do
Thanks for the help

I have 5 Win. 100's in 243 , 308 ,and 284 . Have never had a jam. These along with every othe semi-auto has to be kept clean after firing. To make it easier for cleaning the cylinder and piston and removal and replacement of the action into the stock ,Remove the stock bolt and recoil block. Your re-assembly will go much smoother. As for the stuck cartridge in the chamber, you might have a chipped extracter. New extracters and pistons are available from your gunsmith. Have fun with it .These are very good rifles. :shotgun: Bob

Thanks for the tip Bob, maybe next time I'll try that...if there is a next time. The rifle is not mine , it belongs to a "hunter" and most of the time, hunter and cleaning , do not seem to go together, at least that's my experience around here!! As far as the shell in the chamber , it might be because of a very dirty chamber, which is clean, now. Anyway will see tomorrow morning as I will take it to range and try it out.

My misery with this Win 100, never seems to end :bangHead: , yesterday I told out to sight it in, after getting it back together. I put only one round in the mag, pulled back the bolt and let it go....the round jammed in the mag !!! pulled back the bolt got the shell in the chamber, closed the bolt , pulled the trigger , it went CLICK no bang:mad: tried to open the bolt , it will not move . So now I've got rifle with a %&*$##!! live round in it . I'm really getting pissed with it. I didn't have time to fix it yesterday ..had to leave and go see my sister who was just told she has IBC ( inflammatory breast cancer). Ya, things are going just great!!!

Bob:
If and when your gunsmith gets it apart again, make sure that the trigger assembly bars are straight. If not, the mag sits canted and makes loading miserable. As for the "locking" of the bolt, maybe let your friendly neighbourhood 'smith field that one as well. These rifles do work well most of the time.
