Hi there, I know, I know, another of one of these threads. :p I have absolutely no need for this shotgun, but it does come to my shoulder nice. I have a buddy wanting to sell it, but I am not sure what to offer him. Any ideas? It definitely has some miles on it. The blueing is worn and has some nicks in the wood as can be seen in the pics. thanks for the help people.

the winchester 101 comes in 19 different grades. this looks like a magnum field grade. gun digest's book of gun values shows this one at very good $600.00 , excellent $650.00 and perfect $850.00 , assuming it's a 12 ga. the 28 ga. and .410 are valued at a couple hundred more. i know what you mean when you say it comes to your shoulder nice, they are a well balanced o/u, like most of the good ones are. they are great for trap and skeet, i've had one for years.this o/u shotgun thing can be damned addictive!!
 
12M, what edition of Gun Digest values are you using? My 13th edition (2006) lists it at 700 in very good condition. The Standard Catalogue of Firearms (2004) lists it at 750 in very good condition. Full disclosure, I used to own that gun several years ago. It is a magnum field, 3" version. A co-worker needed a gun for trap and borrowed it. He shot it so well I sold it to him. If I lived in pheasant country I never would have let it go. They're good guns.
 
yes , my edition is the 12th,2003 so i guess it gained a hundred bucks for the field grade mag. yes they are a great o/u . In my opinion they're a steal at any price under $1000.00. from the numbers of them around, i sometimes think they lived in the shadow of the browning citori, which itself is a very good o/u.i don't live in pheasant country but they kill ducks and geese nicely to. i guess i'd best get an updated version of gun digest gun values. this passion for o/u 's does get damn addictive doesn't it.
 
right now quite a bit. otherwise do a bit of math from u.s. to canadian dollars. i always figured it was a guesstimate anyways
 
Are those barrels scored or just filthy? Lots of bluing gone, that diamond inlay :(, and poorly fitted pad. I wouldn't pay more than $400 for it.
 
no doubt this 101 is devalued,bluing gone , diamond inlay , but sxs and o/u fetch a pretty price , sometimes ,here in ontario anyways. i really can't say why other than markets are somewhat regional.i was just quoting the values listed in gun digests book of values, from there it's up to the buyer to decide.i guess in the end, somethings only worth what some damn fool will pay you for it, whether it be a gun or anything else. i agree for this particular one i wouldn't pay more than $400.00, if that.
