I have a mid 70’s Winchester 101 and the bottom barrel is mis firing intermittently. It clicks when you pull the trigger but does not dent the primer. I need a gunsmith in Alberta to fix this problem. I live in Edmonton. Can anyone recommend a good gunsmith to do this work.
Thank you.

I have the same gun and had the same problem. I changed the firing pins and hammer springs without any positive change. I finally found that I tend to cradle my gun (trap shooting) when opening it to catch the empty shell before it ejects. It is possible to open the gun enough to remove a fired shell, but not to #### the lower hammer. When I make sure to open the gun fully after shooting - no more problem!

Thanks. I will give it a try. Sometimes it works fine. I do not think the firing line are broken. I have had it apart and the mechanism looks pristine.

Pins are not too hard to replace, have had the same issue on my dad's older 20g and the top pin on a 12g. All had visible hammer face peening. Picture below is my bird hunting 101 and the top pin is starting to show wear like our previous issue ones have. Best I could do with the phone camera, bottom pin face is smooth, top is pitty looking, rough

I tried opening the gun fully and I went 3 stations without a hitch. Then the problem of intermittent mis firing came back. Does anyone have any ideas on the cause?
Thank you.
