Winchester 12 ga Tracer Shells

Anyone know much about these shells ?.When they were made and for what reason ?.How collectible ?

Yup,that's them !

Designed to help train new trap shooters. The trace element at the base of the wad could tell the shooter if the shot string was high/low/behind the bird etc. Worked well as you only needed 2 or 3 for the student to catch on.

I've had 2 boxes over the years but just came into 3/4 of a case.Mint as they've never been out of the case.Probly taking them to a gun show to sell as I know they are collectible but just don't know how collectible.

Winchester Traacker shells.

Though these just have wads that stay with the shot pattern, the western tracers actually had a tracing chemical reaction.

I've seen boxes in "excellent condition" go for about $40. They're pretty much collectors items now since they're not that great of a design.

I have a box of the same WW tracer shells. It would seem that after all these years, they have gone to crap. I tried four out of the box, and nothing. Maybe good as a novelty, but some may work.
