My brother in law just cracked the end of his Winchester 120's barrel. I reckon it's from shooting #2 steel through a full choke.
What are his options? I recommended cutting off the cracked portion (about 3-4 inches) and either threading it for chokes (would it be smarter to thread it for Remchokes or something more common than WinChokes?) OOOOOOOR soldering/welding an adjustable choke on (probably the cheapest option, especially if he can find a used one).
He has a neighbour who does apparently decent gunsmithing work for next to nothing, but I doubt he has tools for cutting choke threads (he's old school and prefers to work with single shot target rifles!)
