Winchester 1200 / 2200 forestock removal

I'm refinishing a Winchester 2200 .12ga (1200 for those visiting from the US).

I've never taken apart the slide mechanism from the forestock. It appears that there is just a ring screwed into the front of the forestock which would unscrew. It also appears that there's two slots for perhaps a tool.

Just unscrew and pull off the forestock?

WD-40 and a small piece of flat metal did the trick. I'm going to camo the forestock. I'll post the pics when I'm done.

It was one of the mods on here
