Good old shotguns, just don't break or lose the spring you see on the back of the receiver opening or you will be shaking and rattling the gun to eject
I have a 2200 which is really the same thing. It's a great gun. No complaints. It did take a little getting used to for me. It has a very fast action for a pump. It releases and sort of starts off the pump to eject and reload. It surprised me the first time I shot it and I honestly wondered if something was wrong. Once someone pointed out to me that it was a feature, I got more into it. There are virtually no accessories available for it. No big deal but I sure would like a recoil pad. I'm going to have to get a grind to size pad for it. 12 guage slugs with no recoil pad are a wee bit harsh.
The very first (or early) run of Models 1200 had issues with the action bridge screw shearing off. It was eventually found to be a manufacturing fault with the bolt contour. If you have one you would know by now . They broke quick and often. Almost all smiths know how to solve the problem now. Funny this is fairly common knowledge about the 1200 but I have never seen one broken in 40 years. I have owned several 1200's. 120's 1300 2200 etc . All were good. Your mid '70's gun will not have any of this issue.
I know a few guys that still us them for are deer season never seen one fail and the shot foster slugs pretty good out of the full choke barrel good Alaround shotgun
For a 2 3/4" waterfowl load its hard to beat the 1 1/8 ounce loads they seem to have the right balance between payload and speed, although the 1 1/4 and 1 1/16 loads may perform better for you.
As for a gun made of aluminum and plastic they have stood up fairly well they now call it the sxp or something like that it's the exact gun. Ocationly the two pieces of plastic in the throat of the tube wear and causes it to double feed and they are prone to breaking extractors . There millions of them out there .
I have used 1300 for 10 years now on turkey and deer. Plan on keeping it for good now, Only issue I have with it is the little whimpy extractor. With some very heavy turkey loads it has on a couple occasions ripped a chunk out of the brass and left the shell in the chamber. Compared every other shotgun I have owned it has the smallest extractor. It does however win on fastest follow up shot out of all the other pumps i have tried. Congrats on your new gun and it will likely eat all but the heaviest loads with ease.
