Someone asked me 'what year' my Winchester 1200 was made in. 
After several hours of drilling on the interwebz, I found out that there is not real way to find out. The only thing that might help me narrow it down (unless someone knows better), is the style of pistol grip cap. As many of you may know, the pistol grip on many Winchester 1200's ends with a blued thingie with a red Winchester "W" inside. Does anyone know when the red W was discontinued on the pistol grip cap? The only clue I got was from pics of a Winchester Super-X Model 1, that had a different grip cap design entirely. The Super-X Model 1 was introduced in 1974 unless I heard wrong. . . .
