The only difference between this one and the model I just purchased for my kid is the barrel, he has 28" vr. It is in similar condition and I paid 280 with a hard case shipped to my door, hope this helps. I'm not certain how rare that barrel is, I've never seen one
I like models 1200 and that gun is uber cool but it's value is the same as an entry end short barrelled shotgun like a Maverick 88. 1200's are not pursued by Winchester collectors so it's value would be around 250.00 to 300.00 dollars. IF it was the military issue 1200 that would be a different story. Martial shotguns have a very large collectors following. Enjoy the gun it will be a lot of fun.

The bolt lacking the "machine swirling" (for lack of a better term)

I paid $225.00 for my Winchester back in the day(1984) for a three inch plain barrel and fixed full choke.
I sold it for $80.00 into its first duck hunting season when one of the action bars broke its spot weld at the guide for running down the magazine tube.
What’s it worth?
Depends on who is sellin and who the buyer is.
The markings might make it desireable to some, me not so much.
I would and did take a Remington 870 Sportsman over another Winchester and would do so again Ina heart beat..even an SPS because I know what the weakness of the SPS is and will be.

I am unclear on what a "SPS" model Remington is. Do you mean Express version or SP version or the Sportsman version? Also I would be interested in what you feel are the "weaknesses" of the Remington are because I have always had good service from my Remington shotguns. A second point of view is always appreciated by me.
