Stopped into a local gun shop today to check out the used gun selection. Has the above mentioned 1200 in the rack. Really nice wood and the gold plated accents were interesting. I have no pics but google it and pics are available to check out. Maybe someone could add a pic here to help out.

Here ya go. Not all 1200 Trap versions had the gold accents. IIRC they were given to clubs to give out as promotional items for Winchester.

Beautiful looking gun but considered by most to be a dressed up "cheap" gun. I don't think the 1200 was as bad as a lot of people make it out to be but I think it's real fate lay in always being compared to the superb model 12!
What kind of money are they asking for it?

I hunt and shoot a few 1200's on occasion. Never had any issues. It takes a while to get used to the so called "Speed Pump" system they have. When you shoot and 870 or Ithaca 37 you pull and push in a voluntary action. The 1200 (especially with heavy loads) is already open and ready to be closed when the shot is fired. Very fast once you train your brain to push instead of pull on the shot.

When it was made as a giveaway gun it could not be valuable. My Father bought a 1200 at a close out sale years ago. I hunted with it a few times but it never excited me.

At the time Winchester was big into trap and skeet range franchising. The giveaways were to the clubs to give to winners of local shoots. You will also see model 1400 semi's done this way.

Best deal that I recall getting from Winchester, as prizes for the club shoot, was at dealer cost. I don't remember free, except patches and caps. Maybe I wasn't in the right loop.

I go with the "lipstick on a pig" description of this one. You can dress them up, but...it ain't no Model 12 Trap.
