I have a 28" fixed Mod choke barrel for a model 1200 that I'm trying to sell. I've had a nibble or 2 but no sale yet. I am considering cutting it down to app 20" and putting a new bead on it. I'm thinking that it may be an easier sell if it were short.

Excellent combo of barrel length and choking as is. If I needed another barrel for my 1200 pile I would consider a 26" CYL set up for upland work and decoying ducks with steel shot. Of course that would involve cutting. 20" barrel is a sort of single use barrel such as riots or self defence usage. A lot of model 1200 variants were Defender type models that sported short barrels but had longer mag tubes that required a different location of the barrel ring. The 1200 close range market is just not as big as the Remington and Mossberg world is. Short story short I would sell it as it is.

I think the biggest holdup to selling this is your preference to avoid shipping. Local sale only limits the buyers on an item that is attractive to a smaller portion of the buying pool.

I agree with the others that cutting the barrel won't increase value or desirability to any appreciable amount, and will turn off many buyers as well.

Shipping is a real inconvenience for me, the nearest Post Office is 20 miles away. I don't mind shipping on the higher priced stuff like rifles and such, but it just doesn't seem worth it for cheaper items.

I've already sold and shipped the furniture to Ontario. The slide was a local sale.

Plain barrel 12g mod. I wouldn't give you more than 75 bucks.

Sorry very un desirable. And I have 5 barrels and 3 winchester 1300s. Only barrels worth any money are rifled, short vent rib turkey, or full 3" 28" w/ 3 chokes.

Thanks, after listing the prices with shipping included all the parts sold, only left with the barrel. I'll probably be putting on my table at the next gunshow.
