My fiancee just bought a brand new 1300 last week. We've dissasembled/reassembled it a few times to clean it, etc, and we are already noticing a fairly significant amount of 'wear' on the receiver.

The damage is occuring on the front end of the receiver, on the little step where the bottoms of the two side lugs on the barrel touch. The damage is on the top of the step, it looks like the alloy of the receiver has been chewed up and pushed back by the barrel.

Is this normal for this gun? Will it affect performance? It seems to me that if this 'wear' continues the barrel is going to start to twist in the receiver.

I don't have a picture of the gun itself, but the arrow on this pic denotes where the damage is occuring:

Thanks

I had the same condition on mine, after a thousand rounds i noticed a fair bit of wear. I sold it and got a used rem870 which has a steel receiver and no problems with it. Have a good one.
