winchester 1300 defender review ?

I just bought one recently off the EE here. Its my 2nd Win Defender so I knew what I was getting into.
It had plastic furniture, a heat shield and vertical grip on the slide as well as an extra round holder mounted to the opposite side of receiver. I put some spare 1300 wood stock and foregrip back on and removed the heat shield. I really like the Speed Feed idea with these shotguns and like how they never changed that when Turkey started producing them.
PS: I have 2 other Winchester pumps, a 1200 (my 1st in 1988) and an SXP Waterfowl I bought last fall.
As for the Defender, I can't wait to test it out on some targets. I plan on loading up some homemade buckshot & slug rounds and compare to some factory.
My only gripe if that, is the mag spring lost some strength and would not push the last round onto the carrier and would either eject out the bottom or jam the feed cycle.
I've since given the spring and slight stretch which remedied the issue. However this is just a band-aid repair as the spring will eventually weaken again. Therefore I will more than likely replace it with an aftermarket spring from Wolff Gun springs. I almost bought the SXP Defender and I'm kinda glad I didn't ;)
Enjoy shooting yours!

Thank you . yeah really love mine ! It has wood furniture . my spring is still tight every round chamber . ive shot slug. Buckshot . birdshot and mostly targetshot . very acurate and an action smooth like butter :) very nice to shoot . have fun with yours too :)

I have one in the EE right now.
Not selling because I don't like it in fact it's a great gun but don't use it enough to justify keeping it.

It's a great gun - that's about all you can say. It has really been overshadowed by the MILPOL popularity of the Remington and Mossberg platforms, but it's every bit as good. I find the actions far slicker out of the box, especially if you get a nice 'SpeedPump'.

Find one in Walnut (not birch) and you'll be the man....or woman.

I bought ones of those from Macleods when they had a going out of business sale. I picked it up at 50% off. Owned it for a few months and flipped.

Greats shotguns, I once had a 1300 w/ birch stock and regret selling it. The bolt is very easy to take apart, no tools required, I always found this to be a plus.

Went threw three 1300 defenders, all where great shotguns! Two had the factory pistol grip and one was full stock. No wood, wish I had one. Never had a problem with any of them. Myself, I would look for a older style not to big on the new ones.
