Winchester 1300

I have nothing but good things to say about the winchester 1300. Its a great slug gun good accuracy good sights they are hard to find now since they are a discontinued model so if you can get your hands on it take it you wont regret it.

They're back in production, with some slight changes, as the Winchester Speed Pump. I've always liked the Winchester action but I find them to be somewhat cheap looking and toylike in feel.

had a 1300 defender for a couple of years.never had any problem with it.it was cylinder choke 18 inch barrel.paid 200 dollars at auction and thought it was a bargain .wish i still had it .

The 1300 was the first shotgun I bought when I was 16. Never had one problem with it when I had it. The only reason I got rid of it was to get a 3 1/2 inch when they first became popular with the introduction of mandatory lead alternative. I dont think you will regret it. Oh and if by off chance something is really wrong with, Im sure you could still get your 200 bucks back no problem from a resell!

The worst case scerio is you are out $200 plus your first gunsmith bill to fix the first thing that goes wrong before you realize what a complete POS they are and throw it in the sea.

I had one, spent more time at the smith getting fixed than it did at my place. Rib let go, needed to be soldered back in place, rotary bolt likes to hop off the rails and jam, got to the point with mine it would even fire the first shot.

THE WORST FIREARM I've ever owned.

Win 1200

I used a 1200 for years shooting skeet(lots) and then bought a 28" winchoke barrel for hunting. Used it in germany for hunting pheasants..Never missed a beat.
When I got back to Canada. I put on a slug barrel and receiver sights and used it in 3 gun comps..Again, never failed, faster to cycle than a Rem 870.
I'd still have it but it was stolen..
You cant go wrong with the 1300...

Well I told the guy I wanted it.

Then he wouldn't answer his phone all day or email me back.

It took a while but he finally told me that someone else made a downpayment, and he thought he'd better take it, since I wasn't going to be able to meet with him for a week. What a boob. I would have given him all the money right away, and I probably could have met him tomorrow.

-shrugs-

Back to looking for a Mossy 500 or Remington 870, I guess.....or something else with a 3 inch chamber. I don't want to take my 2 3/4 Savage 77 for geese next year.

Remington 870 is a good solid gun, but I'd take my winchester 1300 over a mossy, any day.

The winchester 1300 isn't the internet ninja's favorite, and doesn't have as many tacticool add-on's available, but in the real world it sells very well, and is the fastest pump action there is.

I like mine alot, and although you probably don't really NEED the fast action pump for any real world hunting or anything, it's fun to do speed drills now and again just for kicks and giggles and waste alot of lead in a real hurry. (I cast and reload slugs and buck)

First gun I ever owned was a 1300 marine defender with the chrome barrel. Still have it. The 1300s are a quick gun, and I love them. I will admit my defender has hit a snag or 2, however it has had a few people use it rather rough.

Sorry you missed the deal. The first shotgun I bought was a Winchester 1300 sporting a 28" ribed barrel with the Win chokes. I don't remember the particular model, but it has a walnut stock featuring some nice diamond checkering.

I've bought a few shotguns in the last couple of years and I recently sold a few of them. The 1300 is now the only 12ga. that I own. Unlike others, it is one purchase I have yet to regret.

I know at least 2 or 3 gunsmiths that claim the Winchester 1300 is the single most problematic gun that gets brought in.

I've had my 1300 Defender for more than 20 years and put ALOT of rounds through it. Never had a single problem - had a custom choke system and ATI pistol grip stock installed over the years. No problem getting aftermarket parts for it. Too bad you missed out on the deal. I'd take my Winchester over an 870 or 500 anyday...
