Hi,

I just took a Winchester 150 in .22 on trade, along with a Savage model 72. I wasn't interested in the Savage, and posted it to sell. Wow, lots of interest and it sold within a very short time.

As for the Winchester, it's a nice little lever action, but I don't know much about them. I was considering selling this one as well, and holding out for the 9422, but this rifle might fit my needs. Does anyone out there have one? Are they generally dependable? Can I trace the SN to find out manufactuing date?

Thanks in advance.

I've had a couple of them Mike and if in good condition they generally work well and more than acceptable accuracy.
They are definitely not on par with the 9422. Made with an aluminum receiver and stamped parts. The bolt is a forged and machined "unit" with parts often difficult to locate and replace.

The model you have is late 60's early 70's vintage. Winchester made that style of .22 in lever and pump action and there may have been a semi auto as well if memory serves. I had bought M-275 in 22 mag. in 1969 and traded it in towards a M-9422 in 22 mag when they came out. They were a economically made gun, nothing fancy, but functional. You don't see many of these around anymore, so I can agree that parts are probably less common that hens teeth. These guns were made during Winchesters dark years, and I think they would like to forget they ever made them.

i still have the one I bought new in 1970 (from sears) - they are a poor man's 94/22 (i have one as well) - but they have comparable accuracy - shot a lot of grouse and rabbits with it - pretty solid gun - with a medium weight barrel - don't shoot it anymore, but never had a jam or malfunction - sure didn't like the old CIL 22 though.

Lots of parts at numerich just pricey. I had a 150 and 250 I sold this year. Not worth a lot. Still got 1 of each left. I like them because they have no external hammer
My dad had one I grew up shooting. Don't think that gun ever had a cleaning and it shot flawlessly
