Winchester 1500 XTR 12 gauge

Good evening,

My father has come to the conclusion that he will no longer have much use for his Winchester 1500 XTR semi. And has given it to me. He's had it since new in 1982. And other that maybe 6-7 boxes of shells through it, it's pretty well pristine.

Unfortunately dad didn't buy the model with winchokes. So it has a 30" fixed choke barrel. Is there any gunsmiths handy to Orangeville that will machine and tap the barrel for a set of chokes?

My first thought was a road trip into Waterloo to Shooters Choice, but any input you folks have is appreciated.

I'm thinking this could very well have a 2nd life as my waterfowl, skeet gun.

You could also keep an eye out for a replacement barrel with Winchokes. Could be a similar price.

I took my barrel out to Tactical Ordinance this morning, they had no issue with installing a set of thin wall tru-chokes. And wow, got a call at 1715 and told me it was done.

Update.

The barrel is done, and couldn't be happier with the work or the price. Anyone in the area of Newmarket looking to get a similar job done on your scattergun should give Casey at Tactical Ordinance a try.
