A friend showed this to me today. His dad bought it in the 50’s. There is a little case left on the lever and lower receiver. The bore looks mint. I only noticed one messed with screw on the top of the magazine. 26FE7BC3-FBFB-44EF-9514-D83D9B38EFD9.jpg2F0438A8-766D-4D1B-8E3A-D0A1EF9F89A3.jpg
What could this old girl fetch if he needed the money?

Nice looking rifle. A word of caution, be extremely cautious of the Winchester hucksters that will try to offer pennies on the dollar for your family heirloom.

I had one of those a few years back. A very enjoyable cartridge to shoot in that rifle. Most people are way more interested in the .45-70 than the .38-56. You should be able to find a few 1886's in .45-70 listed online. Probably about $500 less than a .45-70 with a round barrel. The octagonal barreled ones will be priced higher. The bore being pristine is very good though. Mine was quite pitted.

Chris.
