Winchester 1894 lever dissasembly help.

I recently acquired a decent Winchester 94 in 30-30 and i would like to take it down and give it a good clean and lube since its been sitting in the guys basement in a safe for quite a while.
I looked up a guide on Google and found a decent one with pics, but I am having trouble removing the tang/hammer assembly (correct name?). The screw will turn out, but it will only come out as far as the threads on the screw (about 1/4 inch) and I cannot pull it out any farther, it will not move any more. Am I missing something? I don't want to damage anything so I would like to double check first.

a shot of penetrating oil?- is it possible that the wood has shrunk around the screw and made the channel so tight the screw won't move?- if you can get the head up enough, you might be able to put a pair of needle nose under the head of the screw and use that like a collar, SLIDING THE NEEDLENOSE DOWN THE SHAFT of the screw as you unscrew it

Oh sorry, its not the screw that holds the butt stock on, its the screw on the side that holds that whole hammer Assembly on (Forgive my ignorance on parts, levers are new to me so I am excited to get this one). Like I said it will turn and come out until the threads are out of the threaded hole but I cant get it all the way t, I tried pulling it, and even tried lightly prying it out with a screwdriver padded with a towel.

I just want to make sure I was not forgetting something like a spring that might be putting pressure on the screw.

look for a hole in the hammer spring guide( with hammer back) and put a paper clip in the hole and then lower the hammer so hammer has zero pressure, then remove bolt

you can not get bolt (1) out when there is pressure on hammer

Where is the guide? My rifle does not have a coil spring like the one in the pic (the writer says someone must have replaced the spring with the coil one on his) Mine has a flat leaf type spring.
 
Sounds like it's grabbing the screw threads, either because of spring tension or grit and crud in there. Blast it out with compressed air and then put penetrating oil in there, might help.
