Just wondering if someone can help me understand what's going on with my 94.

When I open the action, the new round comes up just fine. When I begin to close the action, the lifter drops and stuffs the round back into the mag tube. What's catching and causing that?

How far does it make it back into the mag tube? With a properly fitted link, it should not get past the bullet if it goes that far at all.
Sounds like you should take it to someone who knows 94's. I don't think it's a major problem to fix.

Thanks gunrunner, its basically like loading but reversed. As soon as the bolt begins to close, the lifter drops back right away, not even catching the rim of the round and bringing it up and into the chamber. You're right though, it shouldn't be a big prob to fix....thankfully!

It was in a lot worse shape before, it's a 32-40 I just had the barrel re-lined so it could shoot again. Some country gunsmith in previous years felt like it needed some upgrades which included a monkey wrench for the barrel, solder, and stuck case which someone used a screwdriver to remove, chipping out the metal at the bore, and grinding down the sear to get a better trigger pull

Now this seems to be the only problem remaining.
