Winchester 1894 magazine ring/hanger replacement

I have a Winchester 1894 Canadian centennial and the magazine ring has cracked. It is a square block silver soldered to the octagonal barrel. Does anybody know how to remove and reinstall. I have a replacement ring on order. Thanks for any feedback.

Heat with a torch and remove when solder get soft.

Will this ruin the temper/ heat treat of the barrel ?

I changed one on a Buffalo Bill commemorative. You are not going to heat it that much to take it off. My bluing did not even get damaged on barrel.

Is a propane torch hot enough or do i need oxy/act? What kind of solder did you use?

propane torch should be enough. I used a low temp solder. I'll have a look tomorrow what brand it was.

I used Bernzomatic SAC300 3 Oz Metal Work Solder
