Winchester 1894

Winchester 1894....

Carbine? Full rifle? Octagon or round barrel or combo? Type of stock? Factory or after market sites? Any indication of a special order rifle? etc...

It'd be easier to value with pics... ;)

NAA.

I have 2 Win 94's in 38-55.

One is a saddle carbine, short round barrel, cinch ring on the side of the action. I would say the wood is in fair shape (dings, scratches and a small burn) and there is no rust on the metal parts of the firearm...... there is only about 45% blueing left.... I store it properly so need to worry about rust. All original parts on this gun, never any work done to it by anybody in the family. It is a family heirloom handed down from my Great-Grand Father, he purchased it new in Seattle before moving to Athabasca AB. I have been told value is $250 ish.

The other is an Alberta Comemorative model 94, 38-55. NIB never fired, with all of the original packaging and 2 boxes of Comemerative shells. I have been told the package is worth $800.

Hope this helps... Kinda hard to tell without pics.

Cheers!

Hey notsorich, your 94 SRC is worth about $500 if it's all original. Does it have a carbine rear sight. Is the buttplate a curved carbine type or the later ones were flat.
Not many of those in .38-55.
In my experience it's a lot easier to sell an original Winchester than a commerative. They publish some crazy values for them but in truth the market is small.

Yup it has the carbine sight and a curved buttplate.

The only reason I had it appraised was for insurance purposes, the actual value is unimportant to me..... It is the only firearm that I will NEVER sell, I say I'll never sell a bunch of my guns... but if I absolutly had too I would, but not his one.... 4 generations of my family have shot their first deer and/or Moose with this rifle! My ancestors would turn over in their graves!

Cheers!

It is the only firearm that I will NEVER sell

Remember that every firearm you sell is one you can't give to your children's children's children.

Guns are meant to be bought and used and handed down. Never sold. The EE is sacrilege and heresy with the small exception of finding happy homes for guns where the family line was broken.
