winchester 1894

i have a line on a winchester 1894 in 25-20, in decent shape. he wants a thousand for it. is he out of line. any win. collecters out there?

Are you sure it is a 1894 and not 1892. If a mod 94 could be 25-30 I don't think they made in 25-20, a model 92 yes and worth a grand if in good shape.

If it is an 1894 it would be a 25-35 WCF and if an 1892 would be a 25-20 WCF.

The 25-20 was in the 1892 model not the 1894. Unless the barrel has been changed after production by a gunsmith. The number stamped under the barrel will confirm the year it was made and should match the date of manuf. for the action. I have a 1892 25-20 built in 1911.
