winchester 1895

Leroy's right, if he doesn't want the .405, I'll take it!! Seriously though, it's tough without pictures, the .303 in good shape, with factory Lyman side mounted sight...$1000 or more, the .405(and this is a real stab) add from 500 to double, mind you, I've never had one go through the shop so i could be off on the .405. One thing is certain...there would be double the interest in the .405 then the .303 as it was Teddy's favourite.

I bought one of the reproduction M-1895 .405's from Cabelas in the USA. I paid $1700 and then several hundreds more for red tape. I think it ended up around $2400 by the time I had it in my hands.

Remember when they were listed in WSS catalogue (about 10 years ago)? Those things sold out immediately. I wanted one immediately but didn't get one so when I stumbled onto the opportunity to acquire one (even if it is a reproduction), I was all over it!

I coulda bought half a dozen M-700's for what I paid for that one rifle, but who cares about money if it's the rifle that you really want?

One of the original .405's would be junk though. The previous poster was correct, dispose of it... PM me and I can do that for you!

I have a Winchester Model 1895 .405 manufactured about 1914.I am the third owner of the rifle.Know quite a few stories that go with my rifle as it was always owned by local people.Great rifles.Heard somewhere lately that there would be another run of the Japan made Winchester Model 1895 rifles in .405.

. . . . . . . rifle or not, that 405 Win is one interesting cartridge! I've got one in a Ruger #1 and LOVE it! Hit's like a real hammer . . . . . . and ACCURATE!
