Hey,
I finally picked up a nice 1897 Trench Gun and am in the process of tearing it down to clean and lube it. I got it all apart except that I can't seem to get the stinkin' barrel off the reciever! I have all of the other parts off but can't seem to get the barrel off. It is a takedown model from sometime in 1942 or1943. The barrel is marked '42 and the serial is E936504. Does it pull straight out or do I have to twist it like the magazine tube? I doused it with Kroil to see if that can loosen it up a bit.
Also, does anyone have an easy tool or an easy way to make something to take the wooden front handguard off of the magazine tube? It looks like there are slots cut in the metal end for a spanner wrench.
I will post pics when I get it all back together.
Any info would be great!
Cheers,
Ian
