About a year ago I inherited several older rifles. One of those is a winchester 1906 pump action 22. It is in very rough shape. The finish is entirely gone. The hammer spring is broken. And the inner mag tube is MIA. However I have located all of the parts I need to fix her up. When it comes to refinishing this old girl....... Would it be sacraligous to cerakote it? I have done several rifles and shot guns in the past and know I am capable of doing a nice job. I just want to make sure I am not insane for considering it. I am more comfortable in applying cerakote than I am with bluing.

I did a friends Auto 5 in Arma Coat after removing the pitting etc. Turned out really nice. It's your rifle, do what you feel comfortable with. I say cerakote away!

cheers,

For a rifle that age and style, I would opt for a nice colour case hardening or a proper rust-blue.
I have an M69 Mauser target rifle that was parkerized and Arma-coated and it looks very nice! You can't go wrong either way.
