I have a line on one of these, it's looks to be in very good shape and has not been refinnished, it has checkering so i'm guessing it's the "fancy" grade, has a tang sight that i'm guessing isn't original unless that was an option that i'm not aware of. most of the blueing is intact except on a few sharp edges. Also have 2 magazines, about 30 rounds of original ammo in the boxes and 20 empty brass as well as a vintage cleaning rod. Looking for more info and a price.

I've never seen one of these with a tang peep, but I have seen lots of Model 07's with them.
Price? Difficult; they don't come on the market that often. I'd go about $800.00 to $900.00 for that set, maybe, if I were buying it.

Looks to have extra option checkering on both forend and butstock, and a vintage peep was added along the way, real nice set, KILO is right on with what they go for in this condition as there were thousands and thousands of these sold, but still nice set with some extra's! good luck, dale Z!

At one time they were a common guard gun in prisons in the states.
I too have a very nice one.
To bad they are such an odd caliber as to make reloading most difficult expense wise as they would make a great deer gun :(
You want to have fun...figure out the Take Down system with-out instructions:)

I may be corrected but that doesn't look like Winchester factory checkering. If so I would agree with captonion, around $600. The blueing is great though.

I may be corrected but that doesn't look like Winchester factory checkering.

It isn't....The factory checkering on the forearm, while similar, is on a smaller scale..The factory also sports a Winchester grip cap where it is more rounded....Someone attemted to make this one look like a deluxe...If it had been a Deluxe, it would fetch upwards of $2000, as they are very rare...

Thats the kind of information I was looking for, too bad it's not the factory checkering but at least it looks to be well done and the blueing is good, the guy has had it stored away for just over 60 years only pulling it out to oil it. I'll update with more info when I get the rifle and can get a detailed look at it.

I will find out what brand the ammo and brass is. I should have the rifle in my paws in the next couple days, you guys convinced me to go ahead and purchase it.

Got the rifle today, looks at least as good as the pics indicate, has original Winchester and Kynoch ammo in there boxes. One question I have is, in the pic there a brass cap near the muzzle of the rifle, it fits over the end of the barrel and over the front sight, any one seen these or know anything about them?
