So I'm upgrading my dads old Winchester 2200 for him after the stock set got damaged beyond repair.
He's wanting a more versatile setup for acreage and livestock protection.
So far I've installed a Hogue stock set and chopped the barrel to 18.75".
I'm adding: an XS Big Dot front sight and a flashlight setup.
Where I'm stumped is:
1) is there a mag tube cap available that also has a sling swivel/stud?
2) how can I get the 1300 forend to fit the 2200?
The forend slides on and fits but it's like there is a 1/8"-3/16" gap between the threaded retaining ring and the forend. This allows the forend to wiggle and move around on the action bars.
It looks like I can shim it somehow so I can tighten everything down but I'm not sure what to shim it with.
Has anyone else used a Hogue 1300 forend on a 2200/1200 shotgun?
Thanks in advance.
Geoffrey
