Winchester 25-35 1894 Information

I would say from your info and photo your 94 likely began life as a rifle and was returned to the factory for a new barrel in the late 30's to early 50's. At that time the barrel, mag tube and forend were likely all installed. Or the work could have been done by a gunsmith, Winchester sold replacement barrels by mail at one time. The patina on action,buttplate and lever appear the same not so the barrel, tube and bands. Is the hammer checkered or serrated, if serrated it was likely replaced at the same time as the barrel.
No collector value but a good shooter.

Since we are all agreed there is no collector value, it comes down to the value as a shooter.
Personally, I would value it higher if it were a 30-30. The next to non existent availability of 25-35 ammunition is not very attractive, and certainly the 30-30 can do everything a 25-35 can.

I think that you have found a very nice little rifle. I would love to have a 25-35 lever in a carbine. Being in southeren ontario that would make a really nice varmint gun to carry in the bush.

The Jordan buck was taken with a 25-35!

The Jordon Buck was taken with a Model 1892 in 25-20 Winchester, I have a reprint of the story from the Original "Outdoor life" Magazine and that is what it says.

I have a 1892 Winny in 25-20 ( 1911) and have been shooting 85 gr cast, Guess i should try to find some 90 gr jacketed.

Or maybe my 1905 marlin in 25-20...Though I think that weight may be a little light for distant shots, I do believe that the hunters of yore used what they had. I remember my dad using a .22 for deer but most were head shots. guess they had to be close.
