Hi all. I recently came accross a very minty Winchester model 94 AE XTR in 307 Win. The gun does not have the cross bolt safety. Looks like it spent its entire life in a safe. Does anyone have a clue as to what this gun is worth? Thanks.

They are beautiful, high quality rifles.

I've had a couple of them in .307.

It's a special rimmed .308.

The ammo can be found if you look, either new or used.

And guess what...you really shouldn't do this, but if you open the action and hand insert a .308 round into the chamber, it works fine.

However, you can't cycle them through the action.

Pressures may be a bit higher.

Both calibers are rated at 52000 cup. (check that)

It's a way of using the rifles without sourcing hard to find .307 ammo.

As for .30-30...it's pretty much an ideal deer calibre, and will cycle just fine through rifles made for it. Probably a better deal overall.

somewhere between 6-700 would likely be fair to both of you. Ammo is out there, not always easy to find. Keep an eye on the auctions and ( if we ever have one again ) gunshows.

I absolutely love my 307, I paid $725 I think a few years ago with some ammo and I’m not disappointed. Taken deer out to 250 yards with it and it’s probably my favourite gun to carry.

The hard to find ammo excuse is moot as it’s very easy to reload.
