Was out at the local range today and compared the Winchester 308 168grn MATCH ammo to Federal Gold Medal MATCH ammo in 168 grn.
All I can say is stay a long LONG way away from the Winchester stuff. I have had hunting ammo shoot better groups! The Federal shot 1 MOA at 200 yards but the Winchester stuff was around 8 to 9 MOA. REALLY! I was surprised to say the least.
The bullets are identical in both brands. The Winchester according to the box shoots 100fps faster. I noticed primer cupping with the Winchester rounds which leads me to believe they may be loaded even faster than that.
Normally I have reloads with me but today it was pre-rolled. Oh well. Federal is the clear winner.
