I have a winchester 308 model 100 semi auto and am haveing trouble with it .It fires the first shell ejects it but the second jams on an angle going into the barrel, I have tried all different shells and they all do the same thing except for the old millitary hardballs it will fire them all day and not jam on me. I have had it to 2 gunsmiths and niether can find the problem, would anyone have any suggestions that I can get checked out any help would be appreciated as this is a really nice gun thanks

have you tried a different clip? My uncles 100 was jamming and the lip on his clip was a little bent and causing it to jam, got a different clip and it was cured.

Pointy ammo works better...

It definitely sounds like a magazine problem. If you can find another one try it.

I`m in little old PEI . I had asked the guys here and they didn`t think it was a clip problem but If i can find one I`ll give it a try. Thanks agian

It's not a 'clip' problem. It's a magazine problem. The mag isn't allowing the cartridge to be released at the right time. Replace the magazine. Or you can try tweaking the mag lips open a wee bit. Use fine needle nosed pliers and open the lips a tiny bit.

Another thing to look for on your rifle is the trigger guard/magazine "system". If you can, take the rifle apart and make sure that the rails on the trigger guard, that run parallel to the barrel, are straight and not slightly bent. I had one like this a couple of weeks ago, the magazine was held with the back end at a slight angle due to the rails being slightly off. Straightened them, the mag fed 100%.
Just my 2 cents

I have my Grandfathers M100 and had some problems with it as well. All were due to the two rails running from the trigger guard as GR100 mentioned.
My uncle had fired some ammo that was not meant for semis through it which caused the arms to break. He had them silver soldered but it never did work right after that so he gave it to me. I got a replacement trigger guard/arms from Western Gun parts for $90 (this was 5 years ago) and it works fine now.

Also ensure that the screw holding the trigger group into the stock has the washer. If not there will be too much play and it will jam after each shot. Have you got the replacement firing pin offered from Winchester a few years back? If not write them and ask for it.

Merry Christmas & Happy New year
