A friend asked me to inspect this rifle for safety etc.
He would like to sell or trade it, but has no idea what
to ask for.
I can only say that this WINCH. 351 has 6o% exterior finish
and the barrel bore is pitted with rifling still quite visible.
Mechanically it is in excellent shape and no wood cracks or splits.
It is in the 4000 Serial No range, which places it to the first year of
production. (1905= up to Ser.#7224 .

He had 3 cartridges left and it test-fired positive.
I modified .357 cartridges, by cutting the rim to .408" dia. and cut
the extraxtor groove, and fired 5 more that way but with 125 gr bullet
to keep the pressure within limits. Worked fine.
Any help with value and also more info about it?
Thank you ! Pictures attached.. One like new looking one attached for comparison's sake.

Try Ellwood Epps' website...they usually have a few for sale. They are quite inexpensive, around .250.00 or so; the price would probably be higher if factory ammo were available at a decent price.
I shot my first deer with one. fun little rifles, for sure.

Thank you Kilo Charlie!
I figured that much, but feel better now
by not having undervalued his gun.

I looked at it closely again, but could not find any wording on the gun
to distinguish it as a .351 WSL. It had to be the less powerful
one in cal.35 instead the 351, as only 35WSL is marked on the bottom of the Mag and the same on the barrel.
Interestingly, my friends father shot it for many years with .351 ctgs.
without ill effect. Not supposed to, but he never knew. Now he will !
I am giving it back to him. He will smile and hang it on the wall.
