Winchester 50Express 1886 Value?

My brother in-law has a Winchester model 1886 50Express SN#64**2 barrell writing pat. oct 14 1884-jan 20 1885 this rifle is in very good condition for the age this gun was last shot by his great grandmother my brother in law is47. He is wondering on age and value? is ammo available? it is a family heirloom so he says not for sale (but you never know will post in EE if he changes his mind) Any help would be appreciated

50-110 win. Ex. ammo must be reloaded but the cases are avail. from starline, it is an old black cartridge meant to compete with the big Sharps carts., it however is relatively short to fit in the '86 action. The .50 is the most desirable chambering in that rifle and my guess(though I am no Win. expert) would be 2.5K in NRA "good" condition. For fair condition subtract 30%, if it has any outstanding features(options) the price goes way up. Remember I am not a Win. expert and am going by what something like that might go for in the shop.
