Anybody know where I could buy a Navy Arms or similar Winchester 1873 replica in .45Colt?

Navy Arms just says they don't export to Canada.

The Navy Arms 73s are made by Uberti. I Bought my 73 from Wholesale Sports, but any reputable dealer should be able to get you one. I know Selin Gunsmithing in Vernon usually has a couple of Uberti 73s in stock.

Thanks, Lefty & Bearman,

I had been directed to the Navy Arms rifles by a more experienced shooter who reported that Uberti made a variety of different rifles, some, like NA, better finished than others. Is there truth to that, or should I just get the best Uberti I can find and do polishing as necessary?

Uberti Has the Goods Eh!

In my experience with both a Uberti-Winchester clone 1873 Carbine in .357 and a Uberti-Winchester clone 1866 "Yellowboy" Carbine in 44-40 Uberti makes a high quality arm. Have also used their revolvers too like the Uberti-Remington clone 1875 in .357.
As with bonds as 50% of your RRSP you cant go far wrong with Uberti Arms.

As far as I am aware, Navy Arms, Cimmarron etc. have their orders filled with regular run Ubertis. The Uberti quality has become very good. However you will probably want to replace some springs and screws. I think there is a 500lb gorilla at Uberti who tightens the screws. You will probably bugger up the heads of some of the screws when you first dissassemble the rifle. You can order custom screws and springs from the Cowboys and Indian Store or you can get factory replacements and some custom stuff through VTI gun parts, both in the States.

Thanks, again, for everybody's comments. I'm gone shopping for a Uberti '73 in .45 Colt with a 20" barrel, unless lots of people have good arguments about that barrel being an error!

I have a 24" Marlin in .357 which I like a lot but have admired the handling of my wife's Marlin .357 with a 20".

Uberti 73's ROCK

I have a uberti 73 with a 20'' octagonal barrel in 45, nice wood, absolutely beautiful case hardening receiver, and it shoots like a dream. Got mine from MILARM in Edmonton, I know Wholesale in Calgary had a few in there a couple weeks back...

Uberti's are solid and it is probably the nicest shooter Ive come across.

My Uberti '73 in .45 Colt came from Wholesale in Calgary - I'm more than pleased with it. It is the "Sporting Rifle" configuration with 20" barrel - like this ....

My previous main-match CAS rifle, a Uberti 1866, has the full-octagon 24" barrel, and I can confirm that the 20" 1873 is noticeably lighter and more maneuverable. Unfortunately, after years of smokeless .45 Colt loads my 1866 has begun to exhibit some problems ... light hammer fall (which I assume is simply a weakened mainspring) ... and I also began having case separations (I fear that the brass frame may have stretched slightly, causing a headspace issue.) I still have the 1866 (love it too) but haven't had the problems addressed yet. To be fair, the case separations might actually be the result of cartridge cases which are just getting too "old and tired". When I replace the mainspring, I'll do some experimenting using a segregated batch of new cartridge cases, perhaps also doing some caliper measurements before and after firing ...
