Winchester 88 - Value?

Upon further research the owner wants $500 for it. My father in law had a good look at the bore and he says there appears to be scratches all along the rifling. He thinks they may be right from the manufacturing process. In discussion with my grandfather he says he looked to buy this exact gun about 25 years ago from its current owner but couldnt ever get it to group satisfactory so passed.

I think I'll pass and put the $$$ towards a Ruger 77/44 instead.

I've seen them around saskatchewan anywhere between $275-$799 depending who you're buying from.
My brother and I each have one of them and wouldn't buy any other lever action .308

if in prestine as new condition .....700.00-750.00
These seem to be getting hard to find in prestine condition.
If the rifle has been hunted and is in over all nice condition say 85-90% with a few light marks on the wood
and minor blue fade....? Coming from a friend in your hunt camp .........500.00 seems like a good price give or take 50.00 depending on its condition,

Nice hunting rifle and at a third of the cost of a Sako Finnwolf.
Good luck....
